What to Expect When You're Connecting

Overview

Allstacks allows users to connect to a wide range of popular developer tools, such as Github, Bitbucket, Jira and Clubhouse, in order to collect and analyze data on the Allstacks platform. Once you have connected your existing tools you can select which repo’s are managed and accessed within Allstacks.

What Data does Allstacks Store?

Allstacks reads and processes all activity from these tools’ data sources, generates processed versions, and removes the raw data. In order to provide the most accurate depiction of your work patterns and help you identify issues throughout the entire developer lifecycle, we use information such as commits, pull/merge requests, builds, issues, comments, and 17 other types of activities and events. Here’s what to expect:

• Schedule meeting to connect tools​: After the initial product tour we will schedule a meeting to connect your tools to our platform. It typically takes 15-20 minutes to connect 3-4 tools.

  • The admin of the tools needs to attend this meeting. Everyone else waits until the demo.

  • It is recommended that service accounts are created in the tools for Allstacks. Read permissions for the projects/repos and users are required.

  • Connect to Slack or Teams shared channel

• What to bring​:

  • Identify a team you would like to have the demo on.

  • A roster of the teams you would like to connect. By default tools pull all past & current users. We disable inactive users.

  • Create team names within Allstacks

• 24 hour waiting period after connecting tools​: In most cases, repos will finish processing the same day. The time it takes varies based on the size and amount of data. Keep in mind this is a one-time thing, so although the initial pass might take some time you won’t have to worry about this in the future.

• Executive Demo​: Once the tools are connected your team will receive product training with your live data. We make sure the users are proficient with the new software. We prefer to communicate via a shared Slack or Teams channel. Access will be provided during this time as well.

• User Training​: This is typically for managers and leads, we provide a Q&A and resources to reference.

• Option 1: Not ready? ​Disconnect the repos and discuss when a good time would be to reconnect.

• Option 2: Trial Kickoff, ​upon completion of the training your team will have a chance to immediately trial Allstacks.

• Trial Closure​: Prior to trial your trial ending you will be assigned an account manager who will assist with transitioning the remaining and new team members.
