Grouping Metrics by Parent Properties
Grouping Metrics by Parent Properties
The “Parent Property” option in metric chart settings is a powerful tool that allows you to group data in most metrics by the properties of the parents they belong to.
Instead of looking at the properties of the individual cards, you attribute those individual cards to the epics, initiatives, etc that they belong to, and can even group by custom fields on those parents.
In the example below, we will show how to take the velocity metric and group how much of work completed is being rolled up to epics, indicating how much work goes towards a team’s roadmap vs general maintenance and bug fixes.
We’ve selected Issue Type in this example, but you can pick any single select custom field on your cards.
Applying this change is now more generically showing what work is going towards epic vs not, instead of the specific epic name.
